The young Senegalese lions in full force at the Danone Nations Cup
The U12s boys’ Senegalese team has been taking part in the Danone Nations Cup since 2009. After several entries, the young Senegalese climbed to the 8th place during the 2016 edition. Relentless and tenacious, the young Senegalese lions intend to develop their game and even have a better run in the next editions of the Danone Nations Cup.
The Senegalese passion for football
The Senegalese national team took part in an international tournament for the first time in 1961. Senegalese football stood out during the 2002 Football World Cup where they reached the quarter finals. Football increased in popularity and became the favourite sport of the Senegalese. The Lions became celebrities and set an example for youngsters. They play football and hope that one day they will play internationally as their favourite players do. At each tournament, the stadiums full of the colours of Senegal, along with rhythmic chants, show the enthusiasm of the Senegalese supporters. This same enthusiasm will be needed to support the U12 Senegalese players during the next meeting of the Danone Nations Cup.
