The Romanian edition is called The Hagi-Danone Cup and the winning team represents Romania in the international final of the Danone Nations Cup.
Danone Romania and “Gheorghe Hagi” Foundation is inviting every year the young players to show their skills in a competition based on the fair-play spirit. The young players have the chance to see what a professional competition means and also they can learn the principles of a healthy lifestyle based on sport and balanced nutrition.
The tournament ambassador of Romania is Gheorghe Hagi, former glory of the Romanian football, one of the best in the world in the 90s, playing for Real Madrid, Barcelona FC or Galatasaray. Top scorer in the history of the Romanian team, he scored nearly 300 goals in his career and was named “Romanian footballer of the century”.
It has the support of the Ministry of Education and Research and has 6 Regional Phases across the country and one National Final. Hundreds of shools teams join in and play for the big tickets that could get them to the final phase.
The 6 champions from the regional phases, along with 8 of the best football clubs in Romania play in the national final, this year between 1st and 4th of June at the Gheorghe Hagi Football Academy, in Constanta.
