Indonesia takes part in the Danone Nations Cup

Indonesia participated in the Danone Nations Cup for the first time in 2003.  The Indonesian team won the Fairplay trophy that same year. Then, they twice won the title of best scorer in 2005 and 2017, and of best goalkeeper in 2014.

The Indonesians and football

Football became popular at the start of the 20th century.  At that time, Indonesia belonged to the Netherlands and was called the Netherlands East Indies. It was in 1994 that the first Indonesian championship was organised. The Indonesians are fiery supporters who support their team with passion. Dressed in the colours of their favourite clubs or the national team, the Indonesians show great enthusiasm at each match.

Andik Vermansyah, an inspiring ambassador

In 2003, Andik Vermansyah was part of the Indonesian team at the Danone Nations Cup. He was then spotted and joined a professional club at the age of 14. Since then, he has played in a renown Indonesian club. He is also ambassador of the Danone Nations Cup in Indonesia. His success is a source of inspiration for thousands of Indonesians, proof that with hard work and perseverance, they can also make a difference.
